Porting Mac® TrueType® Fonts To The PC With PC TransType

1. Select the Mac TrueType font you wish to port to the PC. In this case we will use 500 BC. The font is a Mac resource (more here on the Mac file system) so it must be encoded into MacBinary format in order to copy it to the PC (more here on the MacBinary format). There are several shareware programs that can be used to do this. In this case we will use MacBinary II+ (freeware...more details found here). This will create a file called "500 BC.bin" on the Macintosh®.

2. Copy this file to the PC either by using a PC-formatted disk or by sending it over a network (more here on copying files between Mac and PC).

3. Launch TransType on the PC. You will see a window similar to the following:
